Thunder Seed Dealers Earn Outstanding Young Farmers Award

By August 22, 2014No Comments

Myron and Jill Krahn have learned more than a thing or two about growing crops over the years. They were both raised on farms and earned degrees in agronomy, and now they’re growers and Thunder Seed dealers in Carman, Manitoba. The Krahns are so good at what they do, in fact, that they have been named Outstanding Young Farmers of 2013. The Manitoba Outstanding Young Farmers (OYF) Program presents the award each year to a dedicated farming couple under 40 whose gross revenue from crops is at least two-thirds of their income.

The couple runs Myron’s family farm and they grow canola, corn, oats, soybeans and wheat seeds. They also recently have become seed retailers who offer cereal seed and Thunder Seed soybean seeds. In addition, Myron serves as chair of the Manitoba Corn Growers Association and is a director on the Pembina Consumers Co-op Board.
